.

At 10:40 at night a woman with a fifteen-year-old cocker spaniel is reading the price page. The shop shut at six and Marta is asleep, and this customer will book with whoever answers her first.

The chat answers her in about three seconds, off your own price list and your own hours. When it reaches something nobody told it, it says so, takes her number and leaves you the whole conversation for the morning. It comes with your hosting, and it’s never charged by the conversation.

Marta was asleep.
The dog was booked anyway.

Live chat by DEVIQO

One bubble, one inbox. The chat sits in the corner of your website; everything it collects, and everything that arrives from social, lands in the same list in your dashboard.

  • On every page of your site

Bottom-right corner, on a phone as readily as a desktop. It opens itself on the pages people get stuck on and stays out of the way everywhere else.

  • In a summary every Monday

Answering time

Live chat for your website answers in about three seconds

A person answers whenever they’re next free, which is a different thing entirely.

Below is one week of inquiries at a business with two people on the floor. The bars are how long a person took to reply. The line along the bottom is the agent, and it’s the same line on a Tuesday morning as it is at midnight on a Sunday.

If you’d rather fix this without any software in it, our piece on answering inquiries in ten minutes instead of two days is the manual method.

One week, four hours at a time Median wait for a first reply, in minutes, at a business with two people on the floor. Three seconds is about a quarter of a pixel at this scale, so the agent’s line is drawn thicker than it is.
  • The agent, about 3 seconds
  • A person, when one is free
  • Nobody at the desk
How to read one day Every day in the chart is six four-hour blocks, midnight to midnight, left to right. A solid block is the median wait in those four hours. A hatched block is four hours in which nobody was at the desk at all.

Median wait for a first reply from a person, in minutes, by four-hour block. Monday: nobody before 8am, then 4.1, 3.4 and 5.2, nobody after 8pm. Tuesday: 3.8, 3.1, 4.6. Wednesday: 3.6, 3.3, 4.9. Thursday: 4.4, 3.2, 5.8. Friday: 3.9, 4.2, 7.1. Saturday: 6.4 and 5.6 between 8am and 4pm, nobody the rest of the day. Sunday: nobody at any hour. The AI agent answered in about 3 seconds in every one of the 42 blocks, including the ones with nobody at the desk.

  • 3 secmedian first reply from the agent
  • 4 minmedian when a person answers, in working hours
  • 168 hrsa week the bubble is covered, not 40
  • Nightsand weekends are when many chats start
  • It answers every hour of the year, including the two weeks you close
  • It answers only from what you gave it, and says so when it hasn’t been told
  • You can switch it off, or take the conversation over mid-sentence

It hands over instead of inventing

Everybody has met a bot that confidently said the wrong thing

That’s the part worth being careful about, so it’s the part this was built around. The agent answers from what you gave it, and when it reaches the edge of that it stops and says so. It never makes up a price, and it never promises a date.

The bot you have already met

  • Answers a question nobody asked
  • Invents a price, and sounds certain about it
  • Loops you back to the same four buttons
  • Sorry, I didn’t quite get that. Try again
  • Hides the way out to an actual person
  • You never find out what it told anyone

When it doesn’t knowIt guesses

…and you hear about it two weeks later, when someone shows up expecting a price you have never charged.

The agent on your site

  • Answers from your prices, hours and services
  • Says so when it hasn’t been told something
  • Takes a message, and says when you’ll reply
  • Hands over to you mid-chat, with a notification
  • Puts the name, the number and the job in the inbox
  • Every word kept, and every word yours to read

When it doesn’t knowIt asks you

…and the inquiry is saved either way, which is the part a bot that guesses loses you.

What it is trained on

The agent in that chat knows six things and nothing else

Nothing is scraped and nothing is assumed about your trade. You fill in one short form with us, and what goes in it is everything the agent is allowed to say.

Edit any line of it yourself from the dashboard - a price, a change in your hours, a job you have stopped taking - and the agent is using the new wording within the hour. Or write the change to us and we do the typing, at no extra cost.

  • Your price list

Every line of it, and what each line includes. The agent reads from this and from nothing else, which is why it can’t invent a number.

“A full groom for a cocker is seventy-five dollars, about two hours.”
  • Your business hours

The normal week, the national holidays, and the two weeks in the summer when you close. Late nights and early starts too, if you do them.

“We are closed Sundays and Mondays, and the last two weeks in August.”
  • Where you go

The towns and neighborhoods you cover, how far out you’ll travel, and what happens when someone is just past the edge of it. It’s the same list the local SEO checklist for tradespeople asks you to write down.

“Naples, Bonita Springs and anywhere inside twelve miles.”
  • What you do, and what you don’t

Your services in your own words, and the jobs you turn down. The second list matters as much as the first, and almost nobody writes it down - which is half of writing a services page that gets inquiries too.

“We do not take on aggressive dogs. A vet would be better for that.”
  • Delivery, pickup and returns

How things get to people and how they come back. Shipping and cut-off times for a store; pickup and drop-off for a trade.

“Ordered before two and it goes out the same day. Fourteen days to send it back.”
  • The five questions you’re sick of answering

The ones you answer every day without thinking. Write them down once here and you have answered them for good.

“Yes, there is parking right outside. No, you do not need to book for a nail clip.”

Twenty minutes to fill in, and we do the typing with you. After that it’s yours to change whenever the business changes, in a few clicks, or by asking us. Anything you leave out becomes a message rather than a made-up answer.

And the four things it’ll never do

Said up front, so it isn’t a surprise once it’s live on your website.

  • Price a job you haven’t given it a price for
  • Promise a date your calendar doesn’t have free
  • Argue with an unhappy customer - it fetches you instead
  • Pretend to be a person, or sign off in someone’s name

The bubble comes with the hosting, never at a price per conversation

Today you pay $1 for the website plus your first month of hosting. After that hosting is $8.99 a month, billed on the same date each month until you cancel, and you can cancel in any month. The same build is openly sold at $1,500, which is what a US agency charges for a small business site of this size.

So the website is paid for once. After that you’re paying for hosting, which any website needs from someone, and one monthly line carries all of it:

The .com is included on the Complete plan at $18.99 a month. On Basic at $8.99 a month the name is registered in your own name and run for you, and the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year, is billed separately at cost.

Chat software sold on its own is a subscription per seat, every month, before a word is answered. This is inside a bill the website was always going to have.

However many conversations it holds, the number doesn’t move, and there’s no contract, so you can stop in any month.

Where it all lands

One inbox, and a list of what your customers ask

Answering is only half of it.

The value is in what is left behind in the morning: a name and a number, a transcript you can read word for word, and the questions your website should have been answering on its own.

  1. 01 On your site

    It answers, then it captures

Name, number, what they need and when they need it: the same five fields a good inquiry form asks for, except nobody had to fill in a form. On a booking business it writes the appointment straight into the bookings calendar instead.

  2. 02 In your dashboard

    Everything in one list

Website chat, plus Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, in one place with a notification in your browser. Nothing sits unread in a social account nobody remembered to check.

  3. 03 Every Monday

    What people asked

A short summary, grouped and counted. Nine people asked about parking, four about the holiday weekend. That’s next month’s web page, and it is keyword research for people who aren’t marketers, done for you by your own customers.

Ten forty at night isn’t an odd hour to be asked something

It’s one of the busiest. People look you up when they finish work, once the children are in bed, halfway through a Sunday afternoon.

Those were the hours nobody was answering, and they’re the hours this was built for. Read every word it said the next morning, or step in and take the conversation over mid-sentence from any browser.

Questions

What people check before they let it speak to their customers

Will it make things up?

No. It’s built so it can’t.

It can only answer from the sheet you filled in: your prices, your hours, your area, your services, your delivery terms and the questions you handed it.

Ask it something outside that and it says it hasn’t been told, takes a message and tells the customer when you’ll get back to them. It never invents a price, and it never promises a date your calendar doesn’t have free.

Who trains it, and how long does that take?

We do, with you, from one short form. Twenty minutes of your time is normal, and we do the typing. It goes live on your website the same week.

After that you can change any line of it whenever you like: a price rise, a holiday closure, a service you have stopped offering. The agent is using the new version that same day.

What does live chat for a website cost here?

It’s never priced per conversation, and it isn’t a separate subscription with its own renewal date.

The bubble, the AI agent, the lead capture and the one inbox all come with the hosting that keeps your website online, which any website needs from someone. Today you pay $1 for the website plus your first month of hosting. After that hosting is $8.99 a month, billed on the same date each month until you cancel, and you can cancel in any month.

That hosting is no more expensive for having the chat in it. The same build is openly sold at $1,500, which is what a US agency charges for a small business site of this size. However many conversations the agent holds, the number on your bill doesn’t move, and there’s no contract.

Can I switch it off and answer everything myself?

Yes, and plenty of people do at first. With the agent off, the bubble still sits on your website and every message still lands in the inbox with a notification. You’re the one typing.

Leave it on and you can still step in whenever you want: open the conversation in your dashboard and you take over mid-sentence, and the visitor is told that a person has joined.

What happens to the messages it takes?

They land in one inbox in your DEVIQO dashboard, next to your Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp messages, with a notification in your browser.

Each one carries the name, the number, what they asked for and when they need it, along with the full transcript of the conversation.

Nothing is deleted, and it’s all still searchable months later when you need to check what was said.

Will the chat slow my website down?

No. The bubble loads after the page itself has finished drawing, so the words and the pictures a visitor came for are never waiting behind it, and it adds nothing measurable to the speed scores Google reads.

Speed is worth caring about on its own account, and why your website is slow, and what it costs you is one of the longer pieces on our blog. The chat isn’t the thing that will be slowing you down.

Can it take a booking rather than just a message?

Yes, where you have a calendar for it to book into.

On a business running the DEVIQO bookings and time management calendar, the agent offers only the times your rules say are free and writes the appointment straight into the calendar, deposit and all.

Everywhere else it takes the name, the number and what they need, and leaves the booking to you.

Does this replace DEVIQO’s own support?

Not at all. Live chat is a product that sits on your website and talks to your customers.

Our own support is a separate thing and it isn’t going anywhere: it comes with your hosting at no extra charge, and it’s answered in writing by our own team.

You’ll find it in your dashboard, in the DEVIQO help center and in the footer of every page here.
