A page per practice area, written separately
Estate planning and a business dispute are different problems, different clients and different searches. A single services page listing eight areas ranks for none of them and reassures nobody.
Website design for law firms
Someone looking for a lawyer is in a bad week. They have a specific problem, a deadline they may not fully understand, and a strong suspicion that this is going to be expensive. They’re reading your site to work out whether you handle exactly their situation and whether you sound like someone they can call.
Which is why the two pages that matter most are the practice area page and the attorney bio, in that order. Clients hire the person who has done this before. A bio that reads like a resume converts badly. A bio that explains what you handle, who you tend to represent and how you work converts well, and it takes the same amount of space.
Today you pay $1 for the website plus your first month of hosting. After that hosting is $8.99 a month, billed on the same date each month until you cancel, and you can cancel in any month. The .com is included on the Complete plan at $18.99 a month. On Basic at $8.99 a month the name is registered in your own name and run for you, and the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year, is billed separately at cost.
What the site has to prove
These are the questions your visitor is holding while they scroll, and a site that leaves any of them open sends the work to whoever answered it.
01
Estate planning and a business dispute are different problems, different clients and different searches. A single services page listing eight areas ranks for none of them and reassures nobody.
02
Bar admissions and the law school, yes, but also what kinds of matters you take, how you communicate, and what a client should expect in the first month. Photographed well, not from a phone in a hallway.
03
Free, flat fee, or an hourly rate. How long. Whether it’s on the phone or in the office. The firms that state this get better first calls than the firms that don’t.
04
A form that asks the matter type, the jurisdiction, whether there’s a deadline and whether anyone else is already involved. It protects your time and it stops conflicts arriving as a surprise.
The build
This is a starting structure. You tell us what you sell in the questionnaire and the map changes to match, which is most of what done-for-you website design means when a person is doing it.
Every word on those pages is written by a copywriter from your answers, not generated from a template and not left as filler for you to replace on a Sunday night. If you already have a site and the problem is what is on it, a website redesign starts from the same questionnaire.
What they type
People search in their own words, usually on a phone, usually with a town or a near me attached. We write the pages in that language, which is the least glamorous and most reliable part of getting found.
Where you want to be found matters as much as what for. We publish a page for web design in every state and 263 cities, and if you want the map listing, the citations and the monthly writing handled as an ongoing job, that is local SEO.
Search phrases this kind of page is built to answer. We don’t promise a position, and anyone who does is guessing.
What we keep seeing
We look at a lot of these. The same handful of problems come up again and again, and none of them are about taste.
Or scales, or a leather book spine. Every firm has one and none of them says anything. A photograph of the actual office and the actual attorneys does more work than any stock image ever will.
It’s the single most common structural mistake on small firm websites and it’s why those firms are invisible for every one of the eight.
Superlatives, specialist labels and results language are regulated and the rules differ by state. We write to what you tell us your state permits and we won’t invent a track record for you.
The work
Drawn by a designer and written by a copywriter, one business at a time. All of the examples are on one page, sorted by trade.
The price
The whole price list is public and it fits in a paragraph. There’s no quote to request and no discovery call to sit through.
The build
$1once
Designed, written and built by our team, live in seven days. The same build is openly sold at $1,500, which is what a US agency charges for a small business site of this size.
Basic hosting
$8.99a month
Hosting, business email, SSL and nightly backups. Your domain is registered in your own name and run for you; the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year for a .com, is billed separately at cost.
Complete hosting
$18.99a month
Everything in Basic, and the .com itself is included in the monthly rather than billed on to you. One bill, nothing to renew separately.
The whole price list, and what each plan carries, is on the pricing page. If you want to know what everyone else charges first, what a small business website costs puts our number next to the market, with every competitor figure sourced and dated.
Questions
Yes, that’s the job. A copywriter drafts them from your questionnaire and from what you tell us about the matters you take, and you review every word before it goes live. Nothing publishes without a partner reading it.
They vary by state and they’re yours to confirm, so tell us what your bar requires and we build it in: the disclaimer, the responsible attorney line, the wording on results. We won’t write a claim you haven’t approved.
Not for the sake of it. Two or three useful guides, the ones you find yourself explaining on every intake call, will outperform a year of thin posts and take a tenth of the effort.
Yes, over SSL, with the data going to your inbox rather than sitting in a third-party dashboard. Sensitive detail should still move to a proper client portal once the relationship starts, and we say so on the page.
Emergency intent, service areas and the license, above the fold.
Licensing, panel and EV work, and a quote form that filters.
Two seasons of emergencies, plus the plan that pays all year.
Inspections, insurance claims, warranties and finished-roof photography.
Design-build, maintenance routes and a gallery worth looking at.
Every trade we have written a page for is listed in one place, and the trades we haven’t written yet get the same site anyway.
