Website design for plumbers

Plumber website design, built around the call you can’t afford to miss

Most plumbing work is bought in a hurry. A water heater lets go at six in the morning, a main line backs up on a Sunday, and someone is standing in a wet hallway with a phone in one hand deciding which of four companies looks like it’ll pick up. Your website gets a few seconds to be that company.

The rest of the time the search is calmer and the money is bigger: a repipe, a tankless install, a sewer line someone has been putting off. Those buyers read. They want to know what the visit costs, whether you pull the permit, and whether the person who shows up is on your payroll or a subcontractor you found this morning. Both of those visitors land on the same home page, and it has to serve them both.

Today you pay $1 for the website plus your first month of hosting. After that hosting is $8.99 a month, billed on the same date each month until you cancel, and you can cancel in any month. The .com is included on the Complete plan at $18.99 a month. On Basic at $8.99 a month the name is registered in your own name and run for you, and the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year, is billed separately at cost.

  • Seven days. From your answers to a live site, written and drawn by hand.
  • $1 once. The same build is openly sold at $1,500, which is what a US agency charges for a small business site of this size.
  • Cancel any month. No contract, no notice period, no exit fee.

What the site has to prove

Four things a plumbing site has to settle in the first ten seconds

These are the questions your visitor is holding while they scroll, and a site that leaves any of them open sends the work to whoever answered it.

01

The number, huge, and tappable

On a phone the number belongs in the first screenful, as a link that dials. We put it in the header, at the end of every service block and in the footer, and we say the hours next to it so nobody calls at midnight expecting a pickup you don’t offer.

02

The service area, written out by town

Not a map graphic. A list of the towns and counties you drive to, in words, because that’s what someone types and what a search engine reads. If you charge a trip fee past a line, we say where the line is.

03

License, bond and insurance, in plain sight

The state license number, the bond and the general liability, near the top of the page. It costs nothing to publish and it’s the fastest way to look different from the truck with a magnet on the door.

04

A number attached to the visit

A diagnostic fee, a flat rate for a common job, a from-price on a water heater. Anything real. The companies that publish one get called by people who already accepted it, which is a shorter and better phone call than the one that starts with how much do you charge.

The build

The pages we would draw and write for plumbers

This is a starting structure. You tell us what you sell in the questionnaire and the map changes to match, which is most of what done-for-you website design means when a person is doing it.

  1. Home The emergency path and the planned-work path, both visible without scrolling twice.
  2. Emergency plumbing Hours, response window, what happens on the call, what it costs to come out.
  3. Drains and sewer Camera inspection, hydro jetting, root intrusion, and the difference between a clear and a repair.
  4. Water heaters Tank against tankless, sizing, permits, and a from-price for a straight swap.
  5. Repiping and leak detection The job nobody wants to buy, explained well enough that they buy it from you.
  6. Service areas One real paragraph per town you cover, linked from the footer.
  7. About and the crew Who is coming to the house, how long they have been doing it, and who trains them.
  8. Reviews Your Google reviews, pulled onto the site instead of asked for a second time.
  9. Contact and booking A form that asks the four things you need to dispatch, and a calendar for the work that can wait.

Every word on those pages is written by a copywriter from your answers, not generated from a template and not left as filler for you to replace on a Sunday night. If you already have a site and the problem is what is on it, a website redesign starts from the same questionnaire.

What we keep seeing

What is wrong with most plumbing websites

We look at a lot of these. The same handful of problems come up again and again, and none of them are about taste.

A stock photo of a wrench where the number should be

The hero image on most plumbing sites is a smiling model in clean coveralls. It says nothing. That space is the most valuable on the site and it belongs to the number, the hours and the towns you serve.

One page called Services with fourteen bullet points

Drain cleaning and water heater replacement are different purchases made by different people at different prices. One page can’t rank for both and can’t sell either. They get a page each.

No hours anywhere

A quarter of plumbing searches happen outside business hours. A site that doesn’t say whether anyone is on call has already lost the ones who would have paid the after-hours rate.

Sites in and around this trade

Drawn by a designer and written by a copywriter, one business at a time. All of the examples are on one page, sorted by trade.

The price

One build, then the hosting, and nothing else

The whole price list is public and it fits in a paragraph. There’s no quote to request and no discovery call to sit through.

The build

$1once

Designed, written and built by our team, live in seven days. The same build is openly sold at $1,500, which is what a US agency charges for a small business site of this size.

Basic hosting

$8.99a month

Hosting, business email, SSL and nightly backups. Your domain is registered in your own name and run for you; the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year for a .com, is billed separately at cost.

Complete hosting

$18.99a month

Everything in Basic, and the .com itself is included in the monthly rather than billed on to you. One bill, nothing to renew separately.

The whole price list, and what each plan carries, is on the pricing page. If you want to know what everyone else charges first, what a small business website costs puts our number next to the market, with every competitor figure sourced and dated.

Questions

What plumbers ask us next

How fast can a plumbing website be live?

Seven days from the day you answer the questionnaire. That includes a designer drawing the pages around your trade, a copywriter writing the services, the service areas and the emergency copy, and us pointing the domain and turning on the SSL.

Do I need a separate page for every town I cover?

Not on day one. Start with one service area page that names every town in prose, and split the two or three towns that bring work into their own pages later. A site that ships with forty thin town pages tends to rank for none of them, which is the trap most plumbing sites fall into.

Can customers book online instead of calling?

Yes, for the work that can wait. Our online booking system takes a drain clean or a water heater quote straight into your calendar, holds a deposit if you want one, and sends the reminder. Emergencies still ring the phone, because they should.

Will it show up on Google Maps?

The website and the map listing are two different things that feed each other. We build the site so the name, address and hours match your Google Business Profile exactly, and if you want the listing worked on every month, that’s what local SEO covers.

Written for other trades too

Every trade we have written a page for is listed in one place, and the trades we haven’t written yet get the same site anyway.
