Squarespace Basic, at both of the prices it publishes
The cheaper Squarespace price needs a year handed over at once
Squarespace Basic is advertised at $16 a month. That’s the annual rate, taken twelve months at a time; billed month to month the same plan is $21. The free custom domain rides on the annual bill too, so a monthly plan carries none. Either way the template, the words and the photographs are still yours to sort out on a weekend. Here there’s one cycle and one rate. Our team designs the site, writes it and puts it live in seven days for $1, and the hosting after that is $8.99 a month, taken a month at a time, with no year handed over up front and nothing owed once you stop.

The same two years, billed four ways
Squarespace appears twice: once at the annual rate it advertises, and once at the monthly rate you pay if you’d rather not hand over a year at a time. Both are the same Basic plan.

Every figure above was read from the vendor’s own public pricing page on September 3, 2026, in USD, and the source is printed in the row. Prices move, and a vendor can change one the day after this was written, so check the source before you rely on it. Anything we couldn’t read from a United States connection is marked not verified instead of guessed at. The two rows marked This site are ours and come from the same price table the rest of the site reads. The Squarespace rows are the same plan on its two billing cycles.
What the annual bill is doing
Five points to check
The billing period is the thing to understand first, because it decides both the price you see and whether the included domain is there at all.
Squarespace Basic is $21 a month, or $16 a month if you pay a year up front. Ours is $8.99 a month, billed monthly, with no annual version to reach for a lower rate.
squarespace.com/pricing, currency set to USD read September 3, 2026The lower Squarespace rate is only real once twelve months are paid at once, so the first bill is a year. Here the payment is month-sized, and you can cancel in any month with nothing owed after it.
"All Squarespace sites on an annual billing cycle include one free custom domain," and a monthly plan carries none. The renewal after year one couldn’t be read. Here the .com is included on Complete, or registered in your own name at cost, about $12 a year, on Basic, in year one and every year after.
support.squarespace.com, "Included custom domains" read September 3, 2026Squarespace gives you a template to pick and fill in. Here the design is finished before you see it, drawn for your business rather than chosen from a gallery.
On a template, the copy is yours to write. Here a writer turns a short questionnaire into the finished words, and that work is inside the $1.
The three catches in the headline
Three things the advertised price assumes
None of them is hidden. They’re the conditions attached to the number Squarespace leads with, worth reading before it’s the number in your head.
01
It assumes a year up front
The $16 rate needs twelve months paid at once. Month to month it is $21. squarespace.com/pricing, currency set to USD read September 3, 2026
02
The domain rides on annual billing
The included custom domain comes with annual billing only; a monthly plan carries none, and the year-two renewal isn’t published. support.squarespace.com, "Included custom domains" read September 3, 2026
03
The template is yours to finish
The plan is the software and a gallery of templates. Choosing one, writing it and laying it out is the work, and it stays with you.
If you enjoy shaping a template and have the time, Squarespace is a good tool and we’ll say so. If you’d rather the design and the writing were done for you, on a monthly bill you can stop any month, that’s what we are for. The websites page shows what the seven days include.
Questions
What people ask next
Is Squarespace cheaper than DEVIQO?
At the annual rate, Squarespace Basic is $384 over two years; month to month it is $504. squarespace.com/pricing, currency set to USD read September 3, 2026 Here the build and two years of hosting come to $240.76 on Basic.
The difference is what the money buys. Squarespace’s figure is a subscription to a template you fill in yourself. Ours includes a site our team designs and writes for you. The cheaper subscription still leaves you the build.
Why is Squarespace’s advertised price lower than what I pay monthly?
Because the advertised rate assumes annual billing. To pay $16 a month you buy a year at once; paid month to month, the same Basic plan is $21. squarespace.com/pricing, currency set to USD read September 3, 2026 Over two years that’s a difference of $120 for the right to pay in monthly installments.
Do I get a free domain with Squarespace?
On annual billing, one custom domain is included; a monthly plan carries none. support.squarespace.com, "Included custom domains" read September 3, 2026 The year-two renewal isn’t published, so what it costs after the first year isn’t stated up front. The .com is included on the Complete plan at $18.99 a month. On Basic at $8.99 a month the name is registered in your own name and run for you, and the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year, is billed separately at cost.
Does Squarespace design the site for me?
No. Squarespace gives you templates and an editor; the choosing, the writing and the layout are yours. That’s the line between the two: a template is a starting point you finish, and what we deliver is the finished site, designed and written for you and live in seven days.
Can I move my content off Squarespace later?
Squarespace has an export, but a site built around its templates doesn’t lift cleanly onto another host. Here the domain is in your own name and your words, photographs and customer data are yours to take at any time, with no exit fee. It’s written into the terms of service.
Can I still edit the site myself?
Yes. You can change your own pages from the dashboard whenever you like, and send anything you’d rather not do yourself to us. You keep the hands-on control a builder gives you, without having to build the site in the first place.
Which suits me, Squarespace or DEVIQO?
If you want to sit with a template and shape it yourself, and you like doing that, Squarespace is a capable tool. If you’d rather answer a few questions and have a written, designed site live in a week, on a monthly bill you can stop any time, that’s us. Both are fair; they’re different jobs.
The offer
A monthly bill, and the design already done
Our team designs and writes your site and puts it live in seven days, for $1 and then hosting at $8.99 a month. No year paid up front to reach the real price, and the .com included on the Complete plan or at cost on Basic.
Today you pay $1 for the website plus your first month of hosting. After that hosting is $8.99 a month, billed on the same date each month until you cancel, and you can cancel in any month. The .com is included on the Complete plan at $18.99 a month. On Basic at $8.99 a month the name is registered in your own name and run for you, and the registry’s own annual fee for it, about $12 a year, is billed separately at cost.
The same build is openly sold at $1,500, which is what a US agency charges for a small business site of this size. No contract, no minimum term and no exit fee: cancel in any month from the dashboard.
